Around 20,000 enjoyed Concord Carnival

“I want to thank all our community and visitors who enjoyed the atmosphere of this year’s Concord Carnival,” Mayor Tsirekas said.

“Despite the heat we were thrilled with the crowds who came along to celebrate all that is great about Concord and the surrounding area.

“I’d also like to thank local businesses, including the Majors Bay Road Chamber of Commerce who supported the event, as well as our sponsors.  Without business and sponsor support, it would not have been the success it was.”

Mayor Tsirekas also thanked the local performers who entertained the crowds throughout the day on the main stage as well as the ‘Quirky Circus’ artists.

In a first for Concord Carnival, this year saw the introduction of Concord Kitchen, with celebrity cook, Alice Zaslavsky, from Channel Nine’s children’s program ‘Kitchen Whiz,’ one of the key attractions as she cooked dishes for the Environment Protection Agency’s “Love Food Hate Waste” project.

Alice dished up culinary delights from left-overs, and entertained the crowd with food tastings and stories of her time on MasterChef and as host of ‘Kitchen Whiz’. Alongside Alice was Vince, head chef from local Majors Bay Road restaurant Maranello's who also had the crowd lining up for his famous pasta dishes.

With music and dancing, over 80 stalls, and food to satisfy everyone’s taste buds, there was something for everyone at Concord Carnival with amusement rides and a petting zoo to entertain the children.

Concord Carnival was proudly brought to you by the City of Canada Bay and supported by Canada Bay Club, Devine Real Estate, RAMS Home Loans Centre - Greater Burwood, Inner West Courier, Cleanaway and Channel 9.
