Bayview Park Playground - Upgrade launched

| 15 October 2013

“I was delighted to launch the playground at Bayview Park over the weekend with members of the local community who came along to see this new facility for their children,” he said.

“This play space was developed in collaboration with the local community to ensure it included what both park users and the neighbourhood wanted.

“It was very important that the local community around Bayview Park had a say in their local playground and it now includes a rope play climbing frame, children’s rockers and a giant sand pit to be enjoyed by all our younger residents.

“I’d like to thank local children and families for their patience while the playground was under construction, and the Rotary Club of Concord for donating $15,000 towards the intergenerational equipment.”

The upgraded playground at Bayview Park is one of many new or upgraded playgrounds across the City of Canada Bay, since the adoption of the "Let’s Play" strategy in December 2007.

The "Let’s Play" strategy focuses on increasing the potential of playgrounds, broadening play opportunities and strengthening connections within the local community.

A new group called ‘The Friends of Bayview Park’ was recently formed by motivated and interested local residents to assist in the future planning of the park.

‘The Friends of Bayview Park’ will meet on a Saturday morning, every few months, at Pelican Point Community Centre to address issues of interest.
