Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas is supporting local businesses in Rhodes through a new local business advisory service.
“I encourage our small business operators and those intending to start a business to access this service during the three month trial period,” Mayor Tsirekas said.
Through partnership with the Clearly Business Enterprise Centre (CBEC), the City of Canada Bay will deliver the new Small Biz Connect Program every Wednesday from 20 February at Council’s office in Blaxland Road, Rhodes.
Small Biz Connect is a personalised and subsidised business advisory program for small businesses in NSW with an aim to accelerate the business to economic sustainability, delivering growth and employment opportunities. Businesses will receive expert advice and access to face-to-face support to develop their business skills.
The program involves a ‘business diagnostic’ and development of an action plan for the client and Biz Connect advisor to work on over 12 months. It’s a free service up to the diagnostic stage, and then a subsidised fee applies.
“Businesses continue to be attracted to what the City of Canada Bay offers in terms of location, amenities and services,” Mayor Tsirekas added.
“In the two years to June 2011 we experienced an 8% growth in businesses operating locally, double the NSW growth rate of 4%. Sole traders and small businesses account for 90% of our businesses, and they have a fantastic opportunity to benefit from this one to one affordable business advice.”
