City of Canada Bay wins another award

CITY OF CANADA BAY LEADING THE WAY IN STORMWATER EXCELLENCE 

City of Canada Bay has been announced as the 2015 Stormwater NSW Excellence Award winner, says Mayor Angelo Tsirekas.

“Our Water for our Community Project, which officially opened last week, has been awarded the winner of the 2015 Stormwater NSW Excellence Award in the category of excellence in infrastructure,” he said.

“We are very pleased to be recognised for this fantastic project which will save 180 million litres of drinking water each year.  The award also shows we are leaders in our field through innovation, sustainable designs and outcomes.

“Our stormwater harvesting project is able to irrigate 15 playing fields and two golf courses, covering an area of 520,000 metres square, making it the biggest stormwater treatment plant of its kind in metropolitan Sydney.” 

The project was assessed against the following criteria:

            As winners of the state award, the City of Canada Bay will now be considered for the National Stormwater Awards for Excellence for 2015-2016. The winners of the national awards will be announced at next year’s awards presentation, which will be held in Brisbane, in October 2016.
