Five Dock Skate Park upgrade

Planning & building | 13 May 2021

Five Dock Park is home to one of Sydney’s best skate parks, and is a favourite for both local residents and visitors to the area.

The skate bowl was originally built in the 1970s and was upgraded in 2006 with three new competition bowls, a new upper small flow area, obstacles, and a revamped snake run. Featuring a bowl that ranges from 5–8 feet, pool coping,
and a snake run, skaters of all ages enjoy the state-of-the-art skate park every day of the week.

Earlier this year Five Dock Skate Park received a $66,000 upgrade that included repairs to cracks and joints, surface smoothing, bowl base resurfacing, repainting, drainage improvements and safety strip marking.
The local park attracts world class skaters through annual competitions such as King of Concrete and the Vans Park Series Continental Championships and BMX Pro Cup.

It’s also a resource for the community with our Community Services team facilitating several free skateboarding workshops and events at the site throughout the year. These workshops aim to encourage both youths and people from all walks of life to come together, be active, and learn new skills.
