Leaders in sustainability rewarded

Congratulations to this year's Sustainability Award winners.

“I congratulate all our award winners this year, including our Resilience award winners — a new category for businesses and community groups who have shown their ability to react, adapt and thrive throughout the challenges of COVID-19,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

“This program is our leading initiative in recognising local champions who have achieved excellence in the fields of environmental, economic or social sustainability in the City of Canada Bay.”

Awards were open to individuals, groups and businesses that show innovation and commitment to creating a more resilient and greener community — it’s wonderful to see so many people dedicated to this cause,” he said.

This year’s winners:

  • Environmental Community Organisation — Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Primary School

  • Environmental Citizen — Joy Hood

  • Environmental Business  — 313 Automotive and Vatel (two winners)

  • Business Access — Appetite Cafe

  • Child Friendly Business Award — Anime at Abbotsford

  • Partnership Award — Associazione Isole Eolie Confraternita San Bartolomeo Apostolo

  • Sustainable Culture Award — Rhodes Multicultural Community Association

  • Best Maintained Heritage Property — St Patrick’s Catholic Parish Mortlake and 40 College Street (two winners)

  • Innovation Award — Concord West Rhodes Preschool

  • Resilient Business Award — Aussie Mobile Vet

  • Resilient Community Award — Touched by Olivia

  • Resilient Individual Award — Matt Scensey.
