New library strategic plan

Community & events | 20 May 2021

Our new plan will shape the way services are delivered over the next 10 years.

The strategy will guide future planning and ensure that it meets the needs of a continuously adapting and evolving City.

Community consultation for the strategy revealed that 96 per cent of respondents were either satisfied or very satisfied with City of Canada Bay library services.

“Over the last decade we have worked hard to make our libraries engaging public spaces,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

“We pride ourselves on the quality and range of our services. The development of this Library Strategic Plan has given residents a voice in planning to ensure our libraries remain relevant and much-loved institutions.”

The new plan includes three key themes in response to feedback gathered through the extensive community consultation:

  • Learning, recreation and wellbeing
  • Community connection
  • Access equity and inclusion.

These themes were then applied across the City of Canada Bay Libraries’ five service areas: collections, programs, spaces, technology, and customer service.

The Library Strategic Plan has also distilled a new vision for City of Canada Bay Libraries: our diverse community is connected and empowered through the sharing of knowledge and ideas.

“This strategy marks a new commitment to excellence and world-class library services. I encourage you to visit our libraries and experience the wonderful programs and services we offer.”
