A new public piazza for Majors Bay Road

Council | 18 August 2020

The main street of Concord will soon be home to a brand new piazza.

“I am pleased to announce we will soon begin construction on our $600,000 Jellicoe Street Piazza project,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

The piazza is a key initiative identified in the Majors Bay Road Place Plan which provides a roadmap to ensure Majors Bay Road continues to thrive.

“The project is part of our plan to support our community and local businesses well into the future.”

This plan was realised through extensive collaboration with the Majors Bay Road Chamber of Commerce, businesses and residents.

“For the first time, Majors Bay Shopping Village will feature a community space to rest, relax, safely socialise and enjoy small community events.”

“The new piazza will boast public seating, new plants and trees, USB mobile charging station, lighting including decorative tree lights, as well as power and water access for small community events.”

Parking in the precinct will increase with two additional on-street parking spaces and one additional mobility parking space in Jellicoe Street.

Construction on the Jellicoe Street Piazza will commence soon.

“This is a much needed project for our community and I hope residents and visitors will safely enjoy the space when it is complete.”
