Table tennis a piece of public art in Rhodes

| 20 October 2015

“We have worked in partnership with POPP (Public Outdoor Ping Pong) and Mulga The Artist to develop a public art table tennis table, with bats and balls available for our community to use and enjoy,” he said.

After testing temporary table tennis experiences in the park last summer, with a great response from the community, this purpose-built, weather-proof table will be a permanent addition to Peg Paterson Park in Mary Street, Rhodes.

Following installation, the table was painted by Mulga the Artist (Joel Moore), an artist, freelance illustrator and poet who paints murals, designs tee shirts and runs the Mulga clothing label.

The theme of the Peg Paterson Park table art was based on the Parramatta River, which is depicted running throughout the artwork. Activities enjoyed around the river and the indigenous heritage of the area are also symbolised.

“We hope you will look after this wonderful new asset and challenge your neighbours to a friendly game!” Mayor Tsirekas added.

POPP make free-to-use, permanent, weather-proof ping pong tables for parks and open spaces and partner with artists to adorn the tables with creativity. To find out more visit .
