Victoria Avenue Children's Centre opening soon

| 03 December 2014

“The Centre, part of the new community precinct, will provide much needed care and education for children in our community,” Mayor Tsirekas said.

“This fantastic facility is part of a new precinct that will include a primary school, an outside school hours care centre and a childhood health service, all of which will cater to the growing need for children’s services in the inner west, in one location.”

The 47-place child care centre will provide care for children aged from six weeks to school age, 52 weeks a year, between 7.30am and 6pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

Recruitment is currently underway for early childhood educators and assistants, and a centre cook.

This exciting project is being delivered in partnership with the NSW Government Department of Education and Communities and City of Canada Bay.

Council has provided the land for the new services and will establish and operate the childcare centre, and the Government is providing funding.

The waiting list for the centre is now open and forms are available at www.canadabay.nsw.gov.au. Enrolments for next year have commenced and positions are filling fast.

The new school and associated facilities are planned to be up and running by the start of the school year in 2015.
