Damaged or stolen bins

Residential charges and new bins

A Standard Waste Management Charge will be levied on all domestic residential properties, entitling each property to the following services:

  • Weekly collection of 120L of general waste
  • Fortnightly collection of 240L of co-mingled recyclables
  • Fortnightly collection of 240L of garden organics
  • Four domestic bulk household collection services per year.

Additional service charges

Upon application, a Waste Management Charge (depending on type of service) will be levied on all domestic properties and will be issued to property owners who apply in writing to Council for any additional bins. Each application for an additional service will be considered separately by Council's Coordinator Resource Recovery and Waste Management, and upon approval each property will be entitled to a weekly/fortnightly collection of the bins issued under application. These properties will be levied charges depending on the bin type(s) applied for, pro rata, as per the levy schedule in the Residential Properties New/Change of Waste Service application forms. 

Commercial and Non-rateable properties charges

Commercial Properties 

Upon application a Waste Management Charge will be levied on all commercial (business) properties to collect the domestic portion of waste from these properties. The service for Commercial properties is optional, and owners/occupiers may utilise either Council's domestic waste collection service or a private collection contractor. Council's service entitles each property to a weekly collection of waste and fortnightly collection of recycling issued under application. These premises will be levied depending on the bin type(s) applied for, pro rata.

Requests for Council’s commercial waste service can be made via an online application form (see above) and the waste service charges are applied to the property owner's rates notice.

What bin sizes are available?

Waste and recycling bins are offered in a range of sizes:

  • 120L
  • 240L
  • 660L
  • 1100L

Gardens organics bins are available in 240L.

When are the bins serviced? 
The servicing days and frequencies are always aligned with the residential collection zone of your local area. Waste, recycling and garden organics services are offered with the following frequencies:

  • Waste (orange lid) bin: serviced weekly only.
  • Recycling (yellow lid) bin: serviced fortnightly only.
  • Garden Organics (green lid) bin: optional, and serviced fortnightly on the alternate week to recycling bins.

Non-rateable properties

Upon application Council may provide non-rateable properties (including non-profit and/or community organisations) with a domestic waste service at rates identical to the Commercial premises waste collection service.

Non-rateable charges will apply to churches and community organisations, charities, child-care centres, schools and all non-profit organisations.

The bin sizes and collection frequencies for non-rateable properties is that of Commercial properties (see above). 

Other services

Vacant residential lots

Vacant land will be levied at $117.00 per annum, being approximately 25% of the Domestic Waste Management Charge for domestic residential properties.

The same administration fee of $117.00 is applied to unhabitable properties under construction. Residents about to demolish and rebuild their property can apply to have their waste service temporarily suspended and bins removed by filling in the residential waste service form

Special circumstances

In instances where Council's General Manager is satisfied that special assistance is required, often in the case of hardship, the elderly, or in cases of disability, the General Manager may provide one or more of the following services free of charge for a specified period:

  • Additional waste bin
  • Additional recycling bin
  • Additional garden organics bin.
