Breakfast Point and Cabarita Walking Tours

On the 5th of February 1788 a small party from HMS Sirius landed to cook breakfast some miles upriver from a convict colony, established 10 days before at Sydney Cove.

There they met seven Aboriginal men, one of the first colonial encounters with Aboriginal people, commemorated in the naming of Breakfast Point.

Join our fascinating walking tours with our Local Studies Librarian to examine the industrial history of Mortlake and Cabarita, including the largest gasworks in NSW and the “Sixty-Miler” colliers. We will also look at sports and recreation on the shores of the Parramatta River.

This free walking tour will run twice on the same day, please choose the morning (10am-12.30pm) or the afternoon session (2-4.30pm). Meeting point at the corner of Tennyson Road and Magnolia Drive, Breakfast Point.

The walk will take about two and a half hours at a leisurely walking pace, taking time to stop and look at the many interesting features along the way.
