Community Circles City of Canada Bay is here to make connections!

Are you new to the area? Would you like to get out and meet new people and try new things? Would you like to be a part of a supportive local network? Community Circles City of Canada Bay, an initiative of the Touched by Olivia Foundation supported by Council, is here to help residents make meaningful connections within our community.

Whether you want to join a playgroup for toddlers with a disability, play board games, be part of a ‘slow-walkers’ group, or have a social meet-up with other young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder… you bring the idea and Community Circles will search out a group to suit you. A Community Circle can come together around any common interest, bringing a deep sense of belonging in the place you live.

The City of Canada Bay's Community Connector is local resident Anna: “I look to link in local residents to groups that add meaning and purpose to their lives. The idea can be simple and the Circle can be small, and whatever we do we make sure it’s inclusive for everyone to join in," she says.

Community Circles is also looking for locals to become a Facilitator of a Circle. We encourage everyone from mental health support workers to retired professionals to stay-at-home parents or really anyone with a particular skill they are willing share to get involved.  Community Circles offers training and support to those interested in forming a group.

If you are able to volunteer a few hours each month to put an elderly neighbour’s bins out or have a cuppa with someone who rarely receives visitors, sign up at communitycirclesaustralia.com.au/be-involved.

City of Canada Bay is an early adopter of this social initiative, recognising that there are some residents who just need a little bit of support to head out and get involved with our community. The Touched by Olivia Foundation is all about inclusivity and accessibility, working to bridge the gap and break down barriers to ensure connections are possible for everyone in our community. Together we want to build a more connected community.
