Machine Learning with Wade Marynowsky

Online

Join us for this colourful, creative online workshop as we explore the artistic applications of Machine Learning. We’ll be joined by Wade Marynowsky, an internationally acclaimed media artist and roboticist, who will guide us through his latest experiments in AI using an online collaborative tool, Artbreeder.

In Artbreeder, images are ‘bred’ by having ‘children’, or by mixing an image’s ‘genes’ with other images. The main technologies that enable this tool are called Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), such as BigGAN which was trained on ImageNet – a large visual database of more than 14 million images, designed for use in visual object recognition software research.

Participants will then get the chance to ‘breed’ their own hybrid images and animations, while gaining insight into the technologies that lie at the heart of mass data processing.

For ages 18 years and over.

Wade Marynowsky’s exhibition Experiments in Latent Space is showing at The Digital Gallery in The Learning Space from 10 January to 6 February.

Participants will need to create a free account with Artbreeder.
