National Tree Day Art Workshops

National Tree Day Art Workshops

Do you love nature and art? To celebrate National Tree Day, we're teaming up with the Tree Veneration Society to run free nature-inspired art workshops at Arthur Walker Reserve, Concord West!

Join us for a day of hands-on, nature-inspired art activities for all ages. Explore textures through rubbings and collages, try your hand at observational sketching, and create unique artworks using leaves, branches, and natural fibres. Drop in, get creative, and reconnect with the natural world through fun, mindful making. There will be three activities to choose from on the day:

  • Nature-Inspired Drawing Workshop – with Elizabeth Gervay.
This drop-in drawing activity invites participants of all ages to engage with their surroundings through observational sketching. Using natural materials as inspiration, participants are guided to explore form, texture, and pattern found in the environment. The session is informal and flexible, allowing people to participate for as little or long as they like.
  • Nature Frottage & Collage Workshop – with Paula Broom.
This workshop encourages participants of all ages to get creative as they observe the natural world by exploring often overlooked textures and patterns, like leaf veins and bark grain. Using simple materials, they create rubbings from natural surfaces and can then transform these into unique, nature-inspired collages.
  • Sculpture workshop – with Louise Nade.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will create nature-inspired artworks using trees and leaves as both material and muse. Reclaimed threads and natural fibres will be woven, stitched, or wrapped around fallen branches and foliage, encouraging a slow, reflective making process. By working with found and foraged elements, the workshop invites you to explore themes of impermanence, sustainability, and our deep connection to the natural world.
