Open Maker Workshop: Electronics - Build an custom MIDI Controller

Do you love making music? Electronics? Soldering? Get started in your electronics journey by building a small MIDI controller!

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is the communication standard for electronic instruments. In this workshop you'll solder together a small controller that can use this communication protocol to talk to synthesizers, software, and web-based musical applications.

😎🎛️🎶 On Saturday, 31 October we are breaking out the soldering irons as we learn about electronics by making a small analogue synthesiser to play and keep.

For beginners, this workshop offers the perfect opportunity to build confidence in soldering and an introduction to microcontrollers and electronic music making.

In this workshop, you will:

• Get hands-on experience with soldering
• Learn foundational skills for your own electronics projects
• Discover the wonderful world of online music applications with a skilled instructor
• Make your own midi controller to customise and use

Open Maker Workshops are free for adults 16+ years. No previous experience is required.
