Repair Cafe

Repair Cafe

Concord Community Centre, 1A Gipps Street, Concord View in maps

The City of Canada Bay is partnering with the Bower Reuse and Repair Centre to provide a monthly Repair Café, held on the second Saturday of each month during 2017, starting in February. Bower technicians will be on hand to advise and assist members of the community to fix broken small electrical items and rickety furniture items such as tables and chairs. Residents of the City of Canada Bay are invited to bring their own items requiring repair along and technicians will take time to explain the repair process to every participant, helping you to learn new skills and understand the benefits of repairing and reusing.

Small Electricals Repair Café

From lamps to stereo equipment, vintage desk fans and radios to remote control cars… our electrical technicians have fixed them all. Sometimes a simple re-soldering of a join or replacing a broken plug is all that is needed to get those electrical goods working again.

Timber Furniture Repair Café

Chairs, stools and side tables are the most common timber items brought to the Repair Café for a quick fix. Our woodworkers explain the process of fixing the item to show how simple it can be to restore a broken item to functional furniture.

Timeslots

Furniture repairs typically take longer than each electrical repair, hence the full 2 hours has been allocated to allow for furniture prep and repair work. Drying times for furniture glue may also impact on repair times. If you have furniture clamps at home to aid drying time, please bring them along.

Electrical repair times may also depend on the item being repaired. Please arrive in your booked time slot (either 10 - 11 am or 11 am - 12 noon) to facilitate repairs.

Please be advised that wait times may be experienced at this free Repair Cafe, depending on the type of repair work required.

Please note: Bookings are essential as capacity is limited. This event is only open to residents of the City of Canada Bay. Proof of residency may be required.
