Find out about the Rhodes East draft plans at three community drop-in sessions.
Draft plans include up to 3,600 new homes, ranging from terraces to apartments, including up to 200 for affordable housing, catering to essential workers such as police, teachers and child care educators. There is also a potential new primary school, river pool, pedestrian and cycle paths, shops, cafes and community facilities.
The Rhodes East area was nominated as a potential Priority Precinct by City of Canada Bay, and includes land on the eastern side of the rail line, within walking distance of Rhodes train station.
The Department of Planning and Environment has undertaken a range of consultation activities with the local community and other stakeholders to understand what they like about their area and how it could be improved in the coming years. This feedback was used to help inform a draft Priority Precinct Plan.
A key feature of the draft Plan is a landscaped pedestrian bridge from the train station to McIlwaine Park, across Blaxland Road and Concord Road, improving access for walking and cycling.
