Safe Seat Saturday

The City of Canada Bay is offering a free child restraint fitting service for residents, hosted by Transport for NSW Authorised Restraint Fitters. Correctly fitted child restraints save lives.

The next Safe Seat Saturday event will be held on Saturday, 27 March 2021 between 9am and 1pm.

Future Safe Seat Saturday events will be run by Council on the following dates:

• Saturday, 22 May 2021 9am–1pm.

The fitting station will be set up in the Civic Centre staff car park. The entrance to the car park is on Bayswater Street, Drummoyne next door to Drummoyne Preschool Kindergarten 2–4 Bayswater Street, Drummoyne.

This is a COVID safe event. The health and safety of our community remains our top priority. The City of Canada Bay will be strictly following State and Federal health guidelines including contact tracing protocols.

Strict terms and conditions apply to ensure the safety of residents, the authorised fitter, and Council Officers who attend this event. When booking into the event, please ensure that you carefully read and follow all requirements to ensure that everyone is safe. Failure to comply with the terms and conditions will result in not having your child restraint/s fitted or checked on the day. Please follow NSW Health advice and stay home if you are unwell.

Note: failure to show up to your ticketed time slot will result in a 12 month exclusion from this service unless notice has been received 48 hours prior to the fitting date. 

Bookings are essential:

• Bookings for only one vehicle per family will be taken
• Bookings are only available for residents of the City of Canada Bay
• Booking tickets must be presented on arrival
• The cost of the fitting is free. However, you may need to purchase supplementary equipment for a successful fit. Credit card facilities will be available on the day. No cash will be handled during this event.

Please note your booking time as late attendance to the venue will impact the smooth running of the event.

Bookings are on offer between 9am and 1pm at various timed intervals.

Child restraint regulations apply for children up to seven years of age:

• Children younger than six months must be secured in a rearward facing restraint
• Children aged six months to under four years must be secured in either a rear or forward facing restraint
• Children aged four years to under seven years must be secured in forward facing child restraint or booster seat
• Children younger than four years cannot travel in the front seat of a vehicle with two or more rows
• Children aged four years to under seven years cannot travel in the front seat of a vehicle with two or more rows, unless all other back seats are occupied by children younger than seven years in a child restraint or booster seat.
