Join us at Concord Library as part of Science Week 2026 for an insightful look at how DNA plays a role in detecting chronic diseases.
Our presenter, Dr Yi Jin Liew, will discuss advancements in DNA sequencing used to detect cancer recurrence, as well as the role DNA plays in the early detection of chronic disease.
About the presenter:
Dr Yi Jin Liew has experience as a Senior Research Scientist in the Cell and Molecular Health group at the CSIRO. Prior to this, during his postdoc at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, he studied changes in coral DNA methylation patterns in response to climate change. He graduated with a PhD in Genetics from the University of Cambridge, but has, over the years, swapped the pipette for a keyboard.
