Tech Talk: Internet of Things streamed panel discussion

Tech Talk: Internet of Things streamed panel discussion

Online

The Learning Space is proud to partner with Spark Festival 2020 for this special live-streamed panel discussion.

With the increasing roll-out of Internet of Things (IOT) gateways and infrastructure in public spaces, this panel discussion introduces communities to how (and why) the IOT may be used by individuals and organisations alike.

IOT is becoming increasingly prevalent – embedding new sensors within the fabric of our everyday lives. Technologies like LoRaWAN offer low-power, long-range wireless networks that span over 40 Australian cities and 700 gateways locally.

What is the potential of this emerging technology? How will it change our interactions with each other and the built environment?

This live-streamed panel discusses the opportunities presented by IOT in a local context.

Our panellists include Frank Zeichner (Associate Professor & Business Development of Smart Cities, UTS, IOT Alliance Australia), Dr Belinda Dunstan (Lecturer UNSW Built Environment, Computational Design), and Stephanie Kelly (Manager of Place Management, City of the Canada Bay).

This panel will cover current and future applications of IOT. This includes the City of Canada Bay ‘Smart Cities’ program, but also emerging interactions between people, architecture and real-time data.

This panel is hosted by The Learning Space, part of the City of Canda Bay Library Services – committed to making emerging technologies accessible to the public.
