Improving bulk household waste services in Rhodes

Breadcrumb

Your bulk household waste collection service is changing for the better!

As of 1 January 2025, your council clean-up will become more flexible and convenient, increasing from two annual scheduled collections to four collections per year.

Previously, Rhodes west and Liberty Grove had their council clean-up scheduled in the same week. Now we have divided the area into four different zones, with collections staggered over four weeks to help improve efficiency of the service and keep Rhodes clean. Check out the map below to see which area you fit into.

Collection dates for Rhodes West areas:

  • Rhodes west, north of Gauthorpe Street: Monday, 6 January-Friday, 10 January
  • Rhodes west, between Gauthorpe Street and Mary Street (even numbers): Monday, 13 January-Friday, 17 January
  • Rhodes west, south of Mary Street (including Mary Street odd numbers): Monday, 20 January-Friday, 24 January
  • Liberty Grove: Monday, 27 January-Friday, 31 January

If you live in a property in Rhodes that is east of the railway line, you will be able to book a collection on a date that suits you through our dedicated booking portal

Keep reading for details of the changes to your service, which depend on your property type.

What's changing for houses and small apartment blocks What’s changing for medium-to-large apartment blocks

Residents living in freestanding houses or small apartment blocks (under 21 units) will be able to book in up to four collections a year on a date that suits you.

Our new, easy-to-use booking portal is now open, with booking dates available from January 2025. Aim to make your booking about 3 weeks in advance as availability may vary.

To book a collection, click here or call the Waste Hotline on 1300 551 659.

Residents living in large apartment blocks (generally more than 21 units) will automatically have four collections scheduled throughout the year.

To find and print your collection dates for the year ahead, check out our online calendar or call the Waste Hotline on 1300 551 659.

You could also speak to your building manager or download the latest version of Council’s free Waste Info app, which includes a personalised waste collection calendar and reminders.
