Chiswick Splash 2016

| 21 November 2016

Around 500 residents and visitors of all ages took advantage of yesterday’s stunning Spring weather and enjoyed a family fun day of swimming, food, craft and music.

Deputy Mayor Tony Fasanella attended the event, as well as Councillor Marian O’Connell and Councillor Pauline Tyrrell.

People from Chiswick and the surrounding suburbs have been swimming at the Chiswick Baths for just over 60 years.

Stan Little, a long-time resident of Chiswick, Alderman and Mayor of Drummoyne in 1969, was instrumental in the establishment of the Chiswick Baths. A plaque in adjacent Chambers Park, on Bortfield Drive, honours his contribution.

“It fills me with pride to see this pool still in use today and the community enthusiasm for Chiswick Splash,” Cr Fasanella said.

Chiswick Baths is one of the few Parramatta River spots rated Swimmable by the Living River Project, whose aim is to make Parramatta River swimmable by 2025.

Residents can enjoy the Chiswick Baths at any time but Council suggests checking if it is safe to swim at Environment NSW’s .
