The City of Canada Bay lights up

Planning & building | 16 July 2021

The City of Canada Bay will be trialling extended lighting at 8 parks and sportsfields to provide more opportunities for residents in lockdown to be active.

The designated sportsfields will be lit up from 5–8pm Monday to Friday.

“The additional lighting will provide more time for people to exercise during the shorter winter days,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

“It will also help reduce crowding at our popular walkways and open spaces, allowing people to exercise more safely."

“This is just one of many measures we have implemented to support our community through these challenging times.”

The following parks will now be lit from Monday to Friday until 8pm:

  • Campbell Park
  • Edwards Park
  • Five Dock Park
  • Greenlees Park
  • Queen Elizabeth Park
  • Sid Richards Park
  • St Lukes Oval
  • St Lukes Park (fields 1,2 and 3)
  • Timbrell Park.

All residents must follow current NSW Health advice.

Lighting is dependant on wet weather closures. Visit our wet weather field updates page to see the status of each field.
