Council requests M4-M5 Link extension

“Extending the road tunnel has the potential to completely transform Drummoyne,” she said.

“Council strongly encourages residents, particularly those living in Drummoyne, to voice their opinion about extending this tunnel at the WestConnex meeting on Wednesday, 10 August.”

            The current proposal is for the underground road link to join from Victoria Road next to the Iron Cove Bridge to the Rozelle Rail yards.

            At this stage, the State Government is still carrying out geotechnical investigations to help develop the early designs for the project.

            “The M4-M5 link is being designed to reduce congestion in and around the City West Link, Anzac Bridge and Victoria Road. We believe the extension would assist this cause,” Deputy Mayor McCaffrey said.

            The M4-M5 link is the final stage of the WestConnex project and will link the extended M4 Motorway at Haberfield to the new M5 Motorway in St Peters. The project is due to open to the community in 2023.
