In a major coup for Sydney’s Inner West the Rebel WBBL final will be played at Drummoyne Oval this Australia Day after a gripping semi-final double header over the weekend.

The Sydney Sixers will pit themselves against the Brisbane Heat after each team claimed victories in their semi-final match at Drummoyne Oval on Saturday, 19 January.

The Australia Day match marks the first ever standalone WBBL final and is set to draw a record crowd.

“This is set to be one of the biggest events ever seen at Drummoyne Oval,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

“Women’s sport is thriving across Australia and we’re delighted to be a part of such an important moment in WBBL history.”

“I strongly encourage families from across Sydney to come down on Australia Day and watch the Sydney Sixers up against the Brisbane Heat at one of Sydney’s most beautiful sportsgrounds.”

The City of Canada Bay Council urges visitors to take public transport to the match, with limited on-street parking available.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards Dolly’s Dream, a charity supporting the fight against bullying.
