Ferragosto a tremendous success

| 22 August 2016

“Over 100,000 people came along to our 19th year of Ferragosto. This is a fantastic increase in popularity and support as the festival continues to grow year on year,” she said.

“I had many people approach me throughout the day to say they were having an incredible time and a number of local businesses and stallholders said they had been busier than ever before.

“Italy’s vibrant culture and heritage is well and truly alive throughout the Five Dock community and Ferragosto is about celebrating these Italian traditions. It is wonderful to see so many community members, visitors and businesses get behind this event.”

Great North Road in Five Dock was completely transformed into a buzzing slice of Italy as people embraced the array of music, dancing, performances, cooking demonstrations, food and merchandise stalls and more.

We saw a great turn out for our pizza and gelato eating competitions, live music stages and licensed bar area. Families took advantage of the winter sunshine and lounged on the grass at our outdoor cinema, while many festival-goers enjoyed multiple tastings and cooking tips as celebrity and leading local chefs whipped up an impressive selection of dessert creations at FerraCucina.
