Have your say on future of Concord West

| 07 November 2013

The City of Canada Bay is undertaking a study to look at the future of Concord West, focusing on the industrial sites around George Street, with a view to revitalising the area.

"This is an exciting time for Concord West and we want the community to help shape the vision for the future of the community," Mayor Tsirekas said.

"We all know Canada Bay is a great place to live but there is always scope to evolve our city and this plan for Concord West will allow us to better design our suburbs."

The project was initiated following approaches from several property owners of old industrial sites in Concord West, with Council deciding to develop a masterplan for the entire precinct rather than individual locations.

"All communities go through change as industries, activities and types of housing evolve and this is our chance to create a great plan for the area's future," Mayor Tsirekas said.

"Community engagement will be a key component to the study and we urge the local community to get involved."

A community workshop is planned for Wednesday, 25 November at 6.30pm at McDonald College Conference Centre.

Workshop topics will include possible improvements for walking & cycling tracks, improvements to other public areas and options for the future of the industrial sites.

There will also be a second round of workshops in early 2014 to present the results of the study, with opportunities for the community to provide feedback until the end of January, 2014.

Information will also be available on social media sites and a specific consultation website will be established for feedback:
