Illegal waste dumping

| 07 September 2016

The RID Squad, funded by the NSW Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), will determine the source of the illegally dumped waste and issue appropriate fines.

The waste included bulk household items, personal items, toxic products and food scraps.

“This is an overwhelmingly disturbing incident. I am surprised anyone has the audacity to show such little care for our community,” Mayor McCaffrey said.

Council arranges bulk household pick-ups twice a year of items placed outside residential buildings.

Any individual or corporation found to have illegally dumped waste, on public land or outside of scheduled pick-up times, faces fines ranging from $2,000 to $8,000.

Council officers conducted surveillance of the property over the past week and have so far fined one individual in connection with illegal dumping in this area.
