Join Ferragosto at home this year

Council | 20 July 2020

Celebrate Ferragosto at home this year on Sunday, 16 August.

“Sydney's most beloved Italian festival, Ferragosto, will look different this year,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

Although we aren’t able to gather along Great North Road as usual, we invite everyone across the city to celebrate Ferragosto with your nearest and dearest on Sunday, 16 August 2020.

“We haven’t missed a year since 1998 and we don’t want to miss out in 2020. This year will be different, we need our community and our businesses to play their part in making sure that Ferragosto carries on.”

“To help continue our tradition I am pleased to announce that Vincenzo Prosperi of Vincenzo’s Plate is our Ferragosto Ambassador this year,” Mayor Tsirekas said.

“With a passion for Italian cuisine and cooking, Vincenzo is the perfect ambassador to help us celebrate in true Ferragosto style,” he said.

On the day, join the Ferragosto festivities with a long table lunch at your place or local restaurant, try making our menu of the day, dress your driveway or business with iconic Italian decorations, and tune into our live broadcast.

"I am so excited to be the Ambassador for Ferragosto this year as we celebrate one of my favourite Italian holidays from home" Vincenzo Prosperi of Vincenzo's Plate said.

"Join me online for this special adventure on Sunday August 16 — and have your kitchens ready!"

“Schibello Coffee are extremely excited to be involved in Ferragosto 2020. During these challenging times, the Canada Bay hospitality industry needs the local community more than ever to get behind them and show as much support as possible. We couldn’t be prouder to get involved, and as a part of the event we will be launching a Ferragusto Coffee blend, which will be a darker roast inspired by classic Italian coffee flavours, the perfect coffee to enjoy alongside cannoli or biscotti,” Ross Schinella, CEO and cofounder of Schibello Coffee.

“The Ferragusto 2020 concept is an excellent way of not only growing awareness and support for all the amazing business in our area, but also showcasing the importance for innovation and getting digital and creative during these times.”
