City of Canada Bay is currently investigating ways to utilise our sporting fields better, due to increasing pressures as sporting club memberships grow across the city.
There are limited opportunities for new open space areas to be created and as a result we need to manage our current fields more efficiently.
As a result, we have identified an opportunity for Abbotsford Juniors Football Club to utilise Lysaght Park. Currently Abbotsford Juniors play and train at Campbell Park, as do the senior teams. This usage is putting extreme pressure on Campbell Park, with all grades playing and training on the same fields.
We are proposing Abbotsford Juniors play their matches at Lysaght Park between 9am–1pm on Saturdays. We are not proposing moving training sessions to Lysaght Park, so there will be no activity on the fields during the week.
The new fields will only be used by Abbotsford Juniors, which means minimal disruption to traffic, parking and noise levels.
This new use of Lysaght Park will begin on Saturday, 6 June 2015. Prior to this date, minor maintenance of the grass surface and line marking has occurred.
