The program, now in its fifth year of operation, addresses damage caused to private and public infrastructure by harmful trees, primarily the Camphor Laurel species.
Camphor Laurels are not native to Australia and are widely considered to be a noxious weed.
Their invasive root system has caused extensive streetscape damage throughout our City. This poses a public safety risk as uneven footpaths can cause serious trip hazards.
Council will remove 15 hazardous trees and replace them with species that are native to Australia. The replacement trees are individually selected to suit the established area.
“We are committed to maintaining a safe and visually pleasing streetscape for our community. This program ensures our footpaths will remain serviceable for many years to come,” Mayor McCaffrey said.
