A full house is expected at Drummoyne Oval this weekend as the local ground hosts the Sydney Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) Big Weekend.

Over the course of three days the Sydney Thunder, Sydney Sixers, Brisbane Heat, Perth Scorchers and the Melbourne Renegades will come together for a series of epic clashes on their journey to the final.

In January 2019 the WBBL final at Drummoyne Oval attracted a sell-out crowd of 5,368 people and was the most watched WBBL game ever with 479,000 people tuning in on television.

“We are delighted to once again host the WBBL at our fantastic local ground and expect this season to be even bigger,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

Sydney Thunder player, Nidar Dar, is also looking forward to playing at Drummoyne Oval.

“This is my first time playing in an international league and I’m proud to be here with Sydney Thunder,” Dar said.

“I’m looking forward to playing at Drummoyne Oval this weekend. It’s a beautiful ground and it’s set to be a great game.”

“There will be something for the whole family this weekend,” Mayor Tsirekas said. “Parking is limited so jump on the bus to Drummoyne and enjoy the elite sport, entertainment, and beautiful water views on offer.”
