Men's Shed

Harry's Shed

Harry's Shed opened in August 2013 with a great workshop space under the Community Centre, 1a Gipps Road, Concord. The Shed has hand tools, power tools, wood-turning lathes, welding gear, nuts and bolts, wood, and other bits and pieces. It is a fantastic place to work on local community and other projects in a relaxed and creative environment - no experience necessary! Harry's Shed is a place to:

  • Make something
  • Learn something
  • Socialise

Four good reasons to join Harry's Shed

Are you looking for:

  • A workshop where you can work on your own project or do something to help the Shed?
  • A way to contribute to Community Projects so that you can keep using those skills that took a lifetime to master?
  • Mates who will help you learn their skills so you can make your Project?
  • A social activity where you can just have a bit of fun?

See you at the Shed

Harry's Shed is open 9am to 12pm most weekdays (except public holidays). Interested community members are welcome to come and visit the shed, meet the members and have a look around.

Harry's Shed background

Council has supported local interest to develop a Men's Shed in the City of Canada Bay. Harry's Shed is a partnership project between the City of Canada Bay and the City of Canada Bay Men's Shed Inc.

Harry's Shed is named in honour of long term Councillor Jeanette O'Hara and her late husband, Harry, both tireless proponents of the development of a local men's shed.

Men's Sheds are valuable community assets where men and women can meet and build local networks before and after retirement. The benefits of men's sheds are widely recognised and include:

  • Social opportunities to meet and discuss a range of subjects
  • Improved health outcomes
  • Reduced social isolation
  • Broader community benefits through the contribution made by the group.

Council is very pleased to support this initiative locally and is able to provide a local site and a funding contribution towards the program. Harry's Shed is also a proud member of the Australian Men's Shed association.
