Sweet 16 captures the stories and images of 16 women over the age of 60. It asks them to reflect on where they were at 16, with whom they lived, their dreams for the future, culminating in what advice they would give their younger self. Sweet 16 is a reflection of women from differing backgrounds, socioeconomic status, and experiences.
Yve Lavine is a photographer with interests in social justice and previous experience in community work. These combined skills culminated in the Sweet 16 series, with the aim to create a dialogue between generations by asking participants "what advice would you give to your 16 year old self?" Yve previously exhibited as part of Head On Photo Festival in 2014.
