It’s a Jungle out there! is a single-panel cartoon series with G-rated humour to be enjoyed by the whole family, from toddlers to grandparents. Animals are used to depict the funny or absurd side of life. Even though the title includes “Jungle” all sorts of animals are used including Australian kangaroos and koalas to ocean, farm or wood dwellers and house pets. It’s a Jungle out there! was started in September 1999 and there are now over 5,000 cartoons in the series.
Robin Catalano uses found materials, scraps, oddments and discarded items to create her artworks.
She starts with a handful of materials and waits to see what will happen. She sits with the growing creation until it declares itself finished. The journey to a finished article can take hours, days, weeks or months. Using mostly salvaged materials encourages Robin to be more creative.
