On the 5th of February 1788 a small party from HMS Sirius landed to cook breakfast some miles upriver from a convict colony, established 10 days before at Sydney Cove.

There they met seven Aboriginal men, one of the first colonial encounters with Aboriginal people, commemorated in the naming of Breakfast Point.
