This small exhibition will feature portraits from the City of Canada Bay Art Collection.
Three of the artists featured were selected as finalists for the Archibald Prize. One of the artists, Joshua Smith, won the Archibald in 1944 and was the subject of William Dobell's controversial winning portrait in 1943. Smith was so hurt by the response to the painting that he only allowed one other artist to paint his portrait — his friend Yve Close.
This exhibition will also feature a portrait of Joshua Smith by Yve Close.
