Eligibility

Residential Parking Permit

You may be eligible for a residential parking permit if:

  • You live at an eligible address within the City of Canada Bay local area (check your eligibility here).
  • You live permanently at that address.
  • You own the vehicle, and the registration certificate shows your residential address.
  • Your vehicle is not a trailer, caravan, truck, bus or tractor.
  • Your property is rated as residential.
  • You can provide the required documentation for a company vehicle, if applicable.

Visitor Parking Permit

You may be eligible for a visitor parking permit if:

  • You live at an eligible address within the City of Canada Bay local area (check your eligibility here).
  • Your property is located within a permit parking area.
  • Your property meets the residential eligibility criteria.

Visitor permits are linked to your residential address and can be transferred between vehicles. However, they can only be used within your allocated permit zone.

Documents you will need

To apply for a Parking Permit, please prepare the following documents:

1. Proof of Residency:

Provide two documents that show your name and residential address (documents addressed to a PO Box are not accepted). Acceptable documents include:

  • Council Rates Notice
  • Residential Tenancy Agreement
  • Driver’s Licence
  • Bank Statement
  • Utility Bill (e.g. electricity, gas, water, phone or internet)
  • Pension/health care card
  • Electoral card

If you own the property you live in, you can choose a Rates Notice as one of your documents. We’ll use it to verify your name and address, so you won’t need to upload it separately.

Please note, documents relating to your vehicle cannot be used as proof of residence

2. Vehicle Registration Certificates

Provide a copy of the registration certificate for each vehicle kept at the address. Accepted forms include:

  • A current registration certificate issued by Service NSW
  • A screenshot of the online registration details. The registration must show that the vehicle is:
    • Registered in your name
    • Registered to your residential address
    • Displaying full vehicle details

If your vehicle is a company car, include a letter from your employer confirming your position, home address, and that you have full private use of the vehicle.
