Council’s Stop Litter in the Bay project has taken out top honours in the ‘Hey Tosser. Litter Reduction Award’, says Mayor Angelo Tsirekas.
Applications are open for the 2015 Colour the Bay Garden Competition and City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas is encouraging community members to enter their beautiful gardens.
Coming into its fourth year, the garden competition recognises avid gardeners across Canada Bay with a $500 cash prize on offer in each category.

“Approximately half of our household waste is made up of food scraps. Instead of sending it to landfill we could be nourishing our soil,” Mayor Tsirekas said.
“We already recycle our plastic, metal and paper, but few of us are recycling our food scraps as well.”

“This program is an opportunity for local groups to receive funding for projects, events and services that benefit the community,” Mayor Tsirekas said.
